Crossed aerial ladders used to display the American Flag, is an honor bestowed to members of the emergency services who have died in the line-of-duty. Aerial ladders or tower ladders may be used to display the American Flag in an uncrossed formation for funerals of members of the emergency services who have not died in the line-of-duty.
